Introducing a Brand New Race Event
The Viper specifically designed the 14’ Viper jet boat “Challenger” was designed to perform a brand new race event. The Vipers’ radical design was governed by the intended event, the craft needed high acceleration, unmatched manoeuvrability with no hold on safety, a tall order, however, the Viper Challenger has it all.
The hull has been tested with a 120hp, 175hp and 2008 will see the 200hp.
The Race we decided the event should have driver and a co-driver, it had to be competitive, enjoyable and demanding for the competing teams whilst being exciting and entertaining to spectators. The race had to be on a level playing field, affordable, with no advantage handed to the team with the biggest cheque book, so with these few brief ideas in mind the race concept was formed.
It was decided that the boats should perform within a race arena, thus providing a demanding race course, whilst ensuring an exciting spectacle for the crowd. To satisfy the level playing field each competing craft would run individually against the clock, eliminating the disadvantage of driving in another boats wake. The craft are kept stock, but allowing modifications to the impeller and the fitting of nozzle rings. We even achieved, probably, the most affordable form of powerboat racing, by allowing a team to enter up to 3 drivers & co-drivers using the same race craft, thus sharing the cost of competing.
